Indonesia: inputs in gender- and poor-inclusive urban sanitation strategy
Joint situation analysis, strategy development and where wanted field trials of pro-poor and gender-equitable community action are some of the key factors for the success of the monitoring and evaluation consultancy for the Indonesia Sanitation Sector Development Programme (ISSDP). It helped generate significant demand from other cities.
Indonesia: Impact evaluation support to WSLIC-2 project
IRC’s Christine Sijbesma is providing 65 days of impact evaluation advice before completion of the Second Water and Sanitation for Low Income Communities project (WSLIC-2) in Indonesia around December 2008.
Introduction to Advisory Services
IRC provides advisory services to local sector organisations and external support agencies including NGOs. Short-term missions include technical support and critical help for agencies in developing, formulating, appraising and evaluating interventions. IRC also provides longer term project support and back-up. This can be integrated with training of trainers and workshops. IRC and partners can help you!

Partnership for Learning: Piloting Citizen Accountability Mechanisms in Kenya
IRC is assisting with programme design, materials development and facilitation towards the establishment of multi stakeholder accountability mechanisms in three cities in Kenya, aimed at improving water services delivery through partnerships between government, utilities and citizens.
IRC support to “Water and microfinance” seminar in India
During the state visit of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands to India from 24 to 27 October 2007 IRC helped facilitate a “Water and microfinance: exploring innovative partnerships” seminar in New Delhi.
QIS workshop in Bhopal, India
WaterAid India (WAI) and IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre (IRC), held a QIS (Qualitative Information System) workshop in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India from 3 to 7 September 2007. Based on the resulting data and findings, WaterAid India decided to use QIS for participatory monitoring and evaluation of their future projects.
Introduction to Training Services
The overall objective of our current training activities is to provide through training of trainers WSS sector staff with the opportunity to update and supplement their knowledge on sector issues, and to improve their skills to plan, implement and manage projects.
Good governance for WASH
The problems facing those who plan and provide WASH services are well rehearsed – lack of resources and capacity, confused political will, incomplete decentralisation, lack of clarity on roles and responsibilities, competing sectoral interests, lack of involvement of key players in decision making, over-reliance on donors, corruption, lack of cost recovery etc. etc.
Workshop on ‘Process documentation for learning alliances and action research’
A workshop was held in the city of Lodz in central Poland, 1 - 5 July 2007, supported by the SWITCH research project, IRC and EMPOWERS. The purpose of the training was to look into process documentation for learning alliances and action research. The activities being undertaken in the city of Lodz in central Poland provided the focus for the practical aspects of the training. Several outputs of the workshop can be viewed online.
