IRC collaborates with other sector institutions and organisations in the Netherlands and other countries in Europe and North America in a variety of joint activities, including information sharing, publishing and capacity building.



Water and Sanitation Program (WSP)

The Water and Sanitation Program is an international partnership to help the poor gain sustained access to improved water supply and sanitation services. The Program assists countries with capacity building (including policy reforms), planning and implementing sustainable investments, and synthesizing and disseminating lessons. The lessons are then fed back into another cycle of policy and program development, and learning. There are four regional offices: Africa, Andean Region, East Asia & Pacific, South Asia.

Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC)

The Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) is a global multi-stakeholder partnership organisation that works to improve the lives of poor people. WSSCC enhances collaboration among sector agencies and professionals around sanitation and water supply and contributes to the broader goals of poverty eradication, health and environmental improvement, gender equality and long-term social and economic development. WSSCC was created in 1990 through a United Nations General Assembly resolution and is hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO). With members in more than 80 countries, WSSCC has the legitimacy and flexibility of a non-governmental organisation. Through Networking & Knowledge Management, Advocacy & Communications and the Global Sanitation Fund, WSSCC is at the forefront of knowledge, debate and influence on water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) for all.

Water, Engineering & Development Centre (WEDC)

WEDC is concerned with education, training, research, and consultancy relating to the planning, provision and management of physical infrastructure for development in low- and middle-income countries. WEDC forms the core of the Institute of Development Engineering. Areas of expertise include water and sanitation; solid waste management; environment and health; urban services; and watsan in emergency situations.

WEDC manages WELL, the DFID-funded resource centre for improving access to information and support in water, sanitation and environmental health.

WEDC is also a member of the European Alliance of Resource Centres of the Streams of Knowledge's Network.

World Health Organization - Water, Sanitation and Health (WHO WSH)

WHO promotes technical cooperation for health among nations, carries out programmes to control and eradicate disease and strives to improve the quality of human life. Water and sanitation is one of the health topics the WHO is working on. The Water, Sanitation and Health website offers thematic information about drinking water quality; arsenic; water resources; sustainable water supply. It also gives access to training materials; online documents; good practice and tools.

World Water Council

International multi-stakeholder platform. Its mission is to promote awareness, build political commitment and trigger action on critical water issues at all levels, to facilitate the efficient management and use of water in all its dimensions and on an environmentally sustainable basis. The WWC is the initiator of the World Water Forum. As a member-driven organization, the Council brings together more than 350 member organizations from over fifty countries around the world.
