Global Water Partnership (GWP)

Sweden

GWP aims to support high quality, integrated activities at country level and, at the international level, to bring a global learning perspective to these activities. A Technical Advisory Committee is charged with ensuring that programmes follow the principles agreed at the Dublin and Rio conferences in 1992. The GWP has close links with the World Water Council, drawing overall policy-guidance from the WWC and translating it into specific actions at country level.

SNV is a non-profit, international development organisation, established in the Netherlands in 1965. They have been present on the ground in developing countries for over 40 years, and now operate in 35 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Balkans. SNV’s 900 advisors in the field come from a variety of cultural and technical backgrounds, and over 60 per cent are nationals of the countries where they work.

Switzerland

A Swiss consultancy firm and sectoral documentation centre working internationally in the areas of Water and Sanitation, Architecture and Building, Transport Infrastructure, and Urban Development. Since 1978, SKAT has collected relevant information on appropriate technologies, documented lessons learned, and disseminated them. It is also a member of the European Alliance of Resource Centres of the Streams of Knowledge's Network.

UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education (UNESCO-IHE)

UNESCO-IHE contributes to the education and training of professionals and builds the capacity of knowledge centres and other organisations in the fields of water, the environment and infrastructure in developing countries and countries in transition. Their Water Engineering Department carries out education, research and projects related to water resources assessment and control, water supply and irrigation, navigation and hydropower, river, port and coastal engineering and floods, droughts and pollution.

United Nations Children's Fund - Water, Environment and Sanitation (UNICEF WES)

UNICEF has been involved in water, environment and sanitation (WES) issues since the 1960s. UNICEF has supported longer-term programming initiatives in some 90 countries in Asia, Africa and the Americas, to improve access to safe water and sanitation and to promote hygiene awareness.
