Ethiopian press coverage of IRC's 2013 Symposium

Updated - Tuesday 16 April 2013

IRC's Monitoring Sustainable WASH Service Delivery symposium featured in three articles published in local Ethiopian news media.

The first article "Nation to monitor sustainable WASH service delivery" appeared on 6 April 2013 in the Ethiopian Herald. This was a report of a press conference organised by the Ministry of Water and Energy announcing the IRC Symposium and the National WASH Inventory workshop side event.

The second article "Int'l Monitoring Sustainable WASH Service Delivery Symposium kicks off", also appeared in the Ethiopian Herald and was the result of a press conference that Ministry organised during the opening of the Symposium on 10 April. IRC Director Nico Terra was quoted saying that Ethiopia was chosen to host the symposium among other African countries because of its remarkable progress in water and hygiene service coverage. “If we are to see WASH services that last for generations, we as a collective sector must continuously support the shift from monitoring access to facilities towards monitoring the functionality ,sustainability and equality of WASH services”.
