Stef Smits, IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre

Stef Smits will be opening the symposium with a key note presentation based on the symposium background paper for the Monitoring Sustainable WASH Service Delivery Symposium. Stef is a senior programme officer at the IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre, amongst others coordinating IRC’s Latin America Regional Programme. His main areas of interest are sustainability of rural water supplies and multiple-use water services (MUS). Over the past two years, he has been involved in various studies and projects around monitoring of sustainability of rural water supplies in various countries in Latin America, including Colombia, Honduras and El Salvador. In these he has worked on the development of service delivery indicators and governance arrangements for such monitoring.
