IRCs 2013 symposium to be held in Ethiopia

Updated - Thursday 13 September 2012

IRCs regular international symposium has to date been held in the Netherlands, but as we decentralise more of our activities, this event will be held in 2013 in one of our new focus countries: Ethiopia. The symposium focuses on Monitoring Sustainable Service Delivery and will be held in Addis Ababa from 9-11 April 2013.

The event will be co-organised by the Ministry of Water and Energy at the Hilton Hotel, and we expect to attract a large and critical international group of WASH monitoring experts for three days of sharing experiences and discussion.

For more information including details on how you can participate plese visit the symposium webpages at http://www.irc.nl/page/73891 where the first announcement is now available.

We are also discussing with potential partners the possibility of running an additional Ethiopia focused day on Monday 8 April prior to the main international symposium. Some suggested topics that we might want to cover in in-depth discussions and demonstrations are: looking back at the Ethiopia National WASH inventory and looking forward on promoting use of the data; and the use of new technologies (mobile phones, FLOW etc) to improve WASH data collection and reporting in Ethiopia. If you are interested to help us develop these ideas, or have other ones related to monitoring please contact Inge Klaassen.
