Gender and Water Alliance (GWA)

International network of almost 1900 members - including 540 organisations - from 120 countries (April 2010) with an independent steering committee and a secretariat in the Netherlands. GWA is a demand driven and autonomous organisation aiming at mainstreaming gender in water management and promoting women’s and men’s equitable control of and access to safe and sufficient water. The GWA undertakes a mix of information and knowledge sharing initiatives like a website in 5 languages, specialized documentation, e-conferencing, advocacy leaflets, travelling exhibits, capacity building and pilot programmes. The website and many documents are also available in Arabic, French, Spanish, and Portuguese.
