High-level capacity building programme

In 2012-2013, a high-level capacity building programme for Officials of the Government of India and State Governments on sustainable Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programming is being conducted in partnership with the Ministry of Drinking Water & Sanitation (MDWS), the Government of India, UNICEF and IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre, the Netherlands.

The problems facing those who plan and provide WASH services are well rehearsed – lack of resources and capacity, confused political will, incomplete decentralisation, lack of clarity on roles and responsibilities, competing sectoral interests, lack of involvement of key players in decision making, over-reliance on donors, corruption, lack of cost recovery etc. etc.

Workshop on ‘Process documentation for learning alliances and action research’

A workshop was held in the city of Lodz in central Poland, 1 - 5 July 2007, supported by the SWITCH research project, IRC and EMPOWERS. The purpose of the training was to look into process documentation for learning alliances and action research. The activities being undertaken in the city of Lodz in central Poland provided the focus for the practical aspects of the training. Several outputs of the workshop can be viewed online.
Target groups for websites exercise eye-opener for partners

Twelve participants from five partners followed an IRC workshop in Amman, Jordan, from 26 February to 1 March 2007 on strategic issues related to their websites in the IRC portal system. One of the exercises focused on target groups. None of the participants had identified target groups before launching their site. No one had drawn up a matrix to show how the various documents and target groups matched up. This proved an eye-opener
