Permanent mission to the UN
Updated - Thursday 09 March 2006
The Netherlands Mission to the United nations is the representation of the Netherlands at the headquarters of the world organization in New York. Diplomats working at the Permanent Missions are each responsible for a particular field, such as human rights, the environment or disarmament. They prepare for conferences on 'their' subject in various UN fora, attend them, draft resolutions, study the texts of resolutions drafted by other countries, liaise with others in the field (particularly counterparts in other EU member states) and report to The Hague.
