KfW operates as a development bank for the developing countries on behalf of the German Government. Germany is a large bilateral donor in the field of water supply and sanitation. The Bank appraises the eligibility of projects for financing according to development-policy criteria, assists the partner countries in implementing them, and evaluates their success after they are completed. Water management is a priority area for the KfW Financial Cooperation.
