UNICEF has been involved in water, environment and sanitation (WES) issues since the 1960s. UNICEF has supported longer-term programming initiatives in some 90 countries in Asia, Africa and the Americas, to improve access to safe water and sanitation and to promote hygiene awareness. The web site includes news articles on WES, statistics, and resources, such as publications to download and fact sheets.
