Functions of the Ministry include: overall planning, policy formulation, coordination and guidance in the sector of water resources; regulation of ground water and creating mass awareness for artificial recharge in view of depleting resources; formulation of the national water development perspective; and infrastructural, technical and research support for sectoral development at the State level.
