Public squats during World Toilet Day 2010

World Toilet Day is a reminder that better sanitation is needed around the world. Last Friday, November 19th 2010, people around the world raised consciousness about the 2.5 billion people who do not have access to toilets and adequate sanitation. During this occasion, people gathered to perform public squats.
Meetings are convenient and useful platforms for ongoing learning

For organisational learning to be successful, good planning and design are required to make these gatherings a real learning tool. In 2005, IRC began having periodic meetings dedicated exclusively to learning and learning from each other – we refer to this as the Travel Free Week.

Nico Terra officially named new Director of IRC

Den Haag, The Netherlands, Monday 14 June, 2010. On Tuesday 11 May 2010, the Supervisory Board of IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre announced the appointment of Mr Nico Terra as the organisation’s new Director commencing 1 September 2010.
Dutch toilet queue demands action on sanitation

More than 200 people and 30 agencies lined up for the Dutch toilet queue during the World Water Day event in the Netherlands on 25 March 2010.

“We demand more money and commitment from the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation for Sanitation and Water for All. We urge him and the caretaker cabinet to take the lead with this message to the High Level Meeting on sanitation and water, taking place 23rd of April in Washington", said Rolien Sasse, Director of the Dutch disease and poverty reduction NGO Simavi at the Dutch toilet queue during the World Water Day event in the Netherlands on 25 March 2010.
International Water House officially opened

More than 300 people, mainly from the Dutch water sector, joined the official opening of the International Water House in The Hague, the new office IRC shares with other agencies such as AKVO and the Netherlands Water Partnership. Our interactive presentations attracted good crowds who showed a lot of interest.
