The Mvula Trust

The Mvula Trust, the largest water and sanitation NGO in the country, was set up in late 1993 to give support to the Community Water Supply and Sanitation Programme within the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry (DWAF).
The Trust has established itself as a major sector player – providing water to at least 750,000 people, and sanitation to over 500 000, and making critical inputs into policy development. It has partnered with and supported the national Department of Water Affairs and Forestry, and is today doing the same with municipalities throughout the country.
