Reflection workshop for Young Professionals of Youth Zone Programme

Updated - Tuesday 26 July 2011

From 18 July to 27 July, IRC organised a reflection workshop for the recruited Young Professionals who have ended their nine-month work at the receiving partner organisation. They returned  to their sending organisation in the last week of July 2011 and they will start bringing into practice what they have learned. This workshop was an essential bridge between their accumulated experience over the past nine months and the crucial return to their home organisation.

The workshop was facilitated by IRC staff and external specialists. The programme focused on reflecting what was learned both by the young professional and by the receiving organisation and to plan how to bring that learning into practice once back at the home. Time was also given to write outputs.

Outputs and outcomes

At the end of the workshop, the participants had provided an extensive overview of the lessons learned during their stay regarding content, process and logistics. They helped formulate recommendations for the second phase of this programme for which new candidates are being recruited. They were trained by IRC staff and each other on a couple of skill-development areas and they prepared for their coming back home.

Participants were:

  • Bimala Khanal (RCN Nepal) coming back from WASMO, India;
  • Carlos Humberto Mejía Martinez (RCN Honduras) coming back from CINARA, Colombia;
  • Micheal Jonga (RCN Uganda) coming back from RCN Ghana;
  • Ida Aba Coleman (RCN Ghana) coming back from UWASNET Uganda.

They all produced a story that they can publish at their organisations’ web site and that is also published here.
