A PSO-funded Southern Youth Zone Programme is running from 2010 to 2012. The programme aims to strengthen the knowledge and skills of eight young professionals involved in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Resource Centre Networks.



Implementing Multiple Use Water Services approach in Honduran context: first experiences

The department of La Paz is located two hours from Tegucigalpa, Honduras. La Paz is a region famous for the coffee export, cold climate and abundant water. There are four projects implemented using the Multiple Use Water Services (MUS) approach by FHIS, the Honduran Social Investment Fund, with support of IRC. It’s the first time in Honduras that projects are implemented using MUS methodology.

EcoSan entrepreneurs doing better than other sanitation providers in Nepal

Ecological Sanitation (EcoSan) is a new type of toilet option in which urine and faeces are collected separately – this style of toilet is referred to as a ‘dry toilet’ in Nepal. EcoSan entrepreneurs are getting more profits than other sanitation providers. This is shown in a recent study on the "value chain of toilet construction materials".

Community score card helps Bombo community improve their water service

The Bombo community together with the private water service provider and the Town Council developed a joint action plan towards improving water services in Bombo Town Council. The action plan shared roles and responsibilities to water service providers, town council officials, water board members, community leaders and community members. These roles are assigned to work towards ensuring that every community has access to improved and adequate potable water. The action plan was developed in an interface meeting of the community and service providers during the community score card exercise carried by NETWAS Uganda out in Bombo Town Council, a small town; 25 kilometres north of Kampala - the capital of Uganda.

Uganda: baseline on WASH improves primary schools in Kamuli district

PLAN Uganda through a partnership with NETWAS Uganda conducted a baseline on WASH in 2008 to assess the functionality of the WASH sector in the PLAN sponsored schools in Kamuli district.
