The thematic group on gender
The aim of this group is to promote gender equity in different stages of water and sanitation projects, for which it is necessary to strengthen capacities of different actors in the sector, so that they too can promote, value and permit such equity.
Background and activities of the thematic group on gender equity
The thematic group on gender equity started off after a series of workshops promoting the theme and was also motivated by the support of a consultancy by the Water and Sanitation Program of the World Bank.
The inclusion of a gender equity approach in the water and sanitation sector in Honduras
In 2007 the Water and Sanitation Program (WSP) of the World Bank, together with the National Institute for the Woman (INAM) and RAS-HON, carried out a study on gender inclusion at various levels in the water and sanitation sector in Honduras. The end report gives an overview of the results, the gaps and gives recommendations on how to adapt strategies, policies and projects. The study is a baseline document for the development of guidelines and tools to include a gender equity approach into projects.
