Information and outputs related to performance monitoring and behavioural change communication. How to measure performance for rural sanitation and hygiene programmes is an important element for a succesful Sustainable Sanitation and Hygiene for All (SSH4A) programme.



Performance monitoring instruction sheet

This document summarises the performance monitoring framework for the AusAID and Netherlands Directorate-General for International Cooperation (DGIS) funded "Sustainable Sanitation and Hygiene for All" programme implemented by SNV, IRC and local partners in Nepal, Bhutan, Laos, Cambodia and Viet Nam. The performance monitoring framework was developed jointly by SNV and IRC, with a large number of inputs from different partners and colleagues from the countries.

The monitoring framework is based on the Qualitative Information System (QIS) developed by IRC together with Pragmatix India.

Behavioural change communication - guideline

This paper summarises the discussions of the Lao workshop, held in Aug 2010, on “Developing behavioural change communication for hygiene and sanitation marketing.” It suggests some additional resources and gives guidance on how to develop the behavioural change communication component. [Draft]

Workshop report - Performance monitoring and hygiene behaviour change

This report presents the first part of a workshop in which performance monitoring
of hygiene behaviour change was discussed in general and in the context of existing
government monitoring systems. This workshop was held from 22-24 August 2010, in Vientiane, Laos and is part of the Sustainable Sanitation and Hygiene for All programme.

Summary email discussion on performance monitoring

Summary of the email (D-group) discussion group on what should be monitored for district sanitation planning, how (possible measuring methods and tools), who (possible departments, mass movements and/or, community organizations) and when (so as to meet both district and NGO programme requirements).

This D-group discussion is part of the Sustainable Sanitation and Hygiene for All programme and provided input for the workshop on the same topics in Laos from 24 to 27 August 2010.
