Ghana president makes water his priority, says Deputy Minister of Water

Hon. Dr. Hanna Louisa Bisiw, Deputy Minister of Water from Ghana explains to Dick de Jong how political will by her president has triggered action on the ground. Right now 20,000 new boreholes are being constructed. We are also improving water related sanitation. The government is also doing more on education to change people’s views on sanitation. And illegal mining of water is being prevented. She toured with young journalists who help educate Ghanians about the need to realise the value of water and waste. We now have a new policy for new houses that cannot be built without rainwater harvesting and reuse facilities. She talked at the Cape Town Water Cube on 22 March 2011, World Water Day event.
