Learning for change (blog)

Updated - Monday 13 August 2012

This blog is dedicated to learning for change. And it is focused on development cooperation, with special emphasis on the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sector. But, postings on this blog may provide food for thought coming from other sectors as well.

What is learning for change?

Learning for change can mean a lot of things but our key interest is on learning-focused initiatives aiming at effecting change, with the intention to improve the quality of life of the poor and marginalised. We believe it is possible and desirable to develop better conditions of living through a process of continuous critical reflection (learning), we believe it leads to empowerment and we believe empowerment is precisely the kind of change that development is all about.

Under this broad definition, we blog on a regular basis about a number of concepts and initiatives:

  • 'Sector learning' (see this introduction to sector learning)
  • Learning alliances and other multi-stakeholder processes
  • Resource centres and their networks
  • Sector-wide approaches and other (sector) harmonisation and coordination mechanisms
  • Capacity development and Change management applied to complex situations
