International Development Enterprises (IDE)
A non-profit organization that employs market principles to strike at the roots of rural poverty in the world's least developed countries. IDE has developed special expertise in water technologies for small-scale irrigation and safe drinking water.
IDE has country offices in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Nepal, Cambodia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Practica Foundation
The Practica Foundation facilitates research, development and commercial application of technology in the field of water and energy in developing countries. The choice for water and energy-related technology comes from an assessment that these are often prime movers in rural livelihoods and the conviction that there is still considerable scope to reduce cost and improve the quality of technologies in use. The site offers information on ongoing projects, low cost technologies and a library with background documents.
Practical Action
Practical Action (formerly called ITDG Intermediate Technology Development Group) stands for practical answers to poverty, sustainable solutions and people focused. Practical Action works with poor communities to develop appropriate technologies in many areas, including water and sanitation.
Practical Action is part of the Intermediate Technology Development Group, and some of their international offices are still operating using that name.
Water and Sanitation in Developing Countries (SANDEC)
