IRC Symposium 2010 Information Package

From Tuesday 16 to Thursday 18 November 2010, IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre will welcome over a hundred participants from around the world to its 2010 Symposium: Pumps, Pipes and Promises – Costs, Finances and Accountability for Sustainable WASH Services.

IRC would like to extend its thanks to all those who have registered for the symposium which promises to be a pivotal event in the WASH sector.

With a key note address delivered by the Honourable Minister for Rural Water Supply and Sanitation, Government of Andhra Pradesh, Mr Pinipe Viswarup, this year’s event will provide a platform for debate and discussion on three thematic areas critical to achieving sustainable water service delivery and access: costs, finances and accountability. The municipality of the Hague will also play host to symposium participants by holding a cocktail reception on Tuesday 16 November at its offices in the centre of the city.

IRC Symposium 2010 Programme Schedule

IRC Symposium 2010 Background Paper

The IRC Symposium 2010 background paper maps out select trends in water, sanitation and hygiene based on IRCs engagement in the WASH sector. It brings under one umbrella the latest knowledge on finances, costs and accountability for the provision of sustainable decentralised WASH services and illustrates the links amongst all three thematic areas which often tend to be addressed in fragmented ways. This background paper sets the tone for the presentations that will be delivered in next week's IRC symposium and is valuable reading material to prepare participants for engaged discussion and debate.
