“We demand more action and money for Sanitation and Water for All”

“We demand more money and commitment from the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation for Sanitation and Water for All. We urge him and the caretaker cabinet to take the lead with this message to the High Level Meeting on sanitation and water, taking place 23rd of April in Washington".

Rolien Sasse, Director of the Dutch disease and poverty reduction NGO Simavi led the Dutch toilet queue during the World Water Day event in the Netherlands on 25 March 2010. She offered a manifesto in the form of a toilet paper role demanding that the Dutch minister of development aid keeps up his drive for the ‘Sanitation and Water for All: a Global Framework for Action’ initiative.

She also demanded that the Dutch government does not cut back on ODA investments in water and sanitation, and to deliver on their promise to help 50 million people by 2015 with water and sanitation.
ODA should be invested in the poorest countries, and within those countries, it should focus on marginalized groups.

The Dutch toilet queue formed part of the global End Water Poverty campaign that organized all over the world national toilet queues in the same week to focus on ‘Sanitation and Water for All: a Global Framework for Action’.
