HiDef Conference Contact Information

Updated - Monday 19 July 2010

At IRC, we use a system called HiDef Conferencing. It allows you to join a tele-conference by Skype or by (toll-free) telephone. Skype should give the best sound quality, provided you have a good Internet connection.

Use the instructions below to find out how you can join a tele-conference.

Using Skype

In Skype, you can call: skype:+9900827047797206?call (just clicking on this link would probably work). Although it looks like a telephone number, and Skype may suggest you to buy credits, you don't need this and it will work without credits. If you type the number directly in Skype, just type this number: +9900827047797206.

If you regularly participate in such a conference with IRC, you may add this number to your contacts: skype:+9900827047797206?add (advisable for future use!)

Using Telephone

If there is no good Internet connection, or Skype does not work for any other reason, you can use the telephone. If you are in any of the countries from the table below, you can use the number next to it. If you are in any other country, use the (international) toll-free number: +1 (888) 350-0075.

After connecting, you will be asked for the conference room number, which is 7797206.

Some tips

  • Avoid noisy environments, and use a headset whenever possible
  • If you use the built-in microphone of a laptop, do not use the keyboard; each keystroke will be heard loud and clear in the conference
  • If you are in a noisy environment, or want to use the keyboard, mute yourself. To mute (and unmute again) yourself, press *2 on a telephone, or using the Mute button in Skype.
