Climate change adaptation: murky waters of political capture and collusion
Climate change is at risk of becoming a market and a sector with new opportunities for political capture, and for misuse of influence in directing investments to serve the interest of the few. Adaptation measures to cope with climate change might end up being largely ineffective due to corrupt practices if integrity, accountability and transparency are not put on the top of the climate change agenda.

The National Planning Committee of this year's World Water Day celebration in Ghana on the theme Clean Water for a Healthy World is organizing various programmes and activities as part of the celebration. And Green Cross International, together with Pureology Serious Colour Care, has launched the Smart Water for Green Schools project to encourage exchanges between schools in the same river basins.
Ghana, Accra: use of pan latrines outlawed
The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) says effective January 1, 2010, the use of pan latrines in the metropolis has been outlawed. As of this date as many as 5,294 households were still using this type of facility.
Nigeria: water education through posters and flyers
Water Initiatives Nigeria (WIN), a NGO, organizes an activity called Water Education. Posters and flyers will be published along with water facts and figures and information about appropriate sanitation.

Around 125,000 people will walk from 50 villages in three different blocks in Mewat district, Haryana, India on a Jal Chetna Yatra (Water Literacy March) from 19 to 22 March
India, Tamil Nadu: World Water Day by Gramalaya, Tiruchirappalli
More than 25,000 women including AWASH representatives in rural Tamil Nadu will campaign for water and sanitation in their villages on the occasion of World Water Day 2010. "This event will be the largest congregation of women in the world who care for water and sanitation."
Nepal: National Water Week 2010
The Nepal National Water Week Organizing Committee is organizing a week-long program (17-23 March) entitled “Nepal National Water Week 2010” to commemorate the World Water Day (March 22) and World Meteorological Day (March 23).
