Promoting positive behavioral change as an effective tool in the fight against HIV?AIDS
One may be forced to conclude that the defening campaign about the devastating effects of HIV/AIDS have yield the desired result. But the data are their to remind us of the true situation of things as regards the disease.
The developing countries of the world appears to to be the worst hit facing a double jeopardy of infectious and noninfectious diseases.
Studies have shown that knowledge has a mojor role to play in these situations. Our people must be made to understand how thier living conditions relate to their health.Followed by providing facilities that would support the desired conduct.
Getting people to imbibe the right health attitude would be easier when they appreciate the need and benefits that go with the new attitude and behavior.
Therefore, the challenges include increasing people,s knowledge regarding water/sanitation and hygiene and infectious diseases.Let the people understand that the devastating effect of HIV/AIDS is worse under unhygienic or dirty environment as they open door to other infectious diseases.
In SRDE we currently embarking on need assessment study that would reveal knowledge and practice level as well as facilities available in schools that would support good water/sanitation/and hygiene practices. We are open to all manner of support.
