Overview of training, education and scholarship opportunities worldwide.

  • The Education in Water section of the Water Page
    A good starting point for education and training opportunities in the water and sanitation sector. This website provides a searchable database of institutions that offer education, training and research opportunities in water-related topics throughout the world. Currently [Nov 2004] the database includes information from more than 35 academic institutions and three training companies from Africa, and the United Kingdom. Each institutional entry includes a listing of water-related courses offered and full contact details.
  •  International Waters (IW) Resource Centre.
     IW provides an overview of distance learning courses on water and sustainable development. You can select courses by theme or by type (MSc, Training certificate, etc.).
  • Nuffic International Study Programmes and Courses
    Section of Study in the Netherlands of the Nuffic (Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation In Higher Education) website. Provides information on courses taught in English.
  • UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education
    based in Delft, the Netherlands. Runs regular short courses on a wide variety of technical and engineering topics related to the water sector. It also offers Masters programmes focused on water, the environment and infrastructure. Further information can be found on their Educational Programmes page
  • The Water Engineering and Development Centre (WEDC), based at Loughborough University, UK, offers a number of Diploma and Masters programmes in various water engineering topics, some of which are available as distance learning courses. WEDC can also organise tailor-made programmes to suit your requirements. Details can be found on the WEDC web site.
  • The World Bank Institute (WBI) Learning Programs Include courses, seminars, and policy advice on topics that are important to the international development process, i.e. the Water Program. Participation on the courses and events organised by the WBI are generally by invitation only.
