Learning and Sharing at sub-county level

Organisations and government offices at sub-county level in Uganda are playing a crucial role in the communication bewteen district level organisations and the communities.
After the implementation of a series of successful learning and sharing sessions around household sanitation and hygiene at the district level in Uganda, it was concluded that there is a need to pilot learning platforms at sub-county level.
16 & 17 October 2008, a learning and sharing session was organised in the district of Kyenjojo, with the participation of five sub-county representatives from five different sub-counties.
21 & 22 October 2008, another pilot learning and sharing session was organised in the district of Koboko, with the participation of sub-county representatives of Lubule and Midia.
Objectives of these learning platforms at sub-county level are:
- To establishing functional and effective learning and sharing platforms around household sanitation and hygiene at sub county level.
- To Improve coordination, collaboration and harmonization between stakeholders, to ensure efficiency, effectiveness and participation.
- To improving documentation and sharing of best practices and experiences at the district and sub-county level.
- To ensure that political will is in support to improve hygiene and sanitation conditions in the sub counties.
- To increasing usage of cost effective, innovative, pro-poor and gender sensitive household, school sanitation and hygiene technologies
