On a contents page the left menu on the category stays unfolded. In this case you are looking at the theme Knowledge Management. Also you can find out about your location in the portal by looking at the bread crumb (the list of links with right arrows in between) above.
There are two lay-out types for contents pages:

Themes index page
Project index page
