Workshop on sector wide approach

IRC facilitated a workshop on integrated water resources management (IWRM) and the sector wide approach (SWAP) for European Commission (EC) delegates in the francophone West Africa region. The workshop contained a general introduction to IWRM with experiences primarily from other parts of Africa, backed by a series of presentations of case studies. The main part of the workshop focused on the SWAP process and on the integration of IWRM in sector wide approaches, on budget support and other challenges related to decentralisation, changing political and legal environments, and transboundary issues.
