Updated - Tuesday 11 December 2007

The Cali Declaration [1] has been the milestone of LatinoSan 2007, an event held from 12–16 Nov 2007 in Cali, Colombia, attended by ministerial authorities for sanitation and a variety of stakeholder groups. The Cali Declaration considers the following actions: to prioritize sanitation in the national development policies; to support the achievement of the main objectives of the International Year of Sanitation; and to strengthen the intergovernmental cooperation in the Region.

To draw media attention to sanitation issues 14 international journalists were given the opportunity to participate in a capacity building program on sanitation issues. Furthermore four videos on sanitation were awarded. The winner will have the opportunity to show its video in AfricaSan, the African Sanitation Conference, to be from 18 – 20 Feb 2008.
