Water Management in the Desert - Photo story
This is a photo story of good and bad examples of water and land management along the Cairo-Alexandria desert road.
I compiled this story in pictures from a field-trip on 24 January 2009 by journalists and experts during the first “Water and Land” capacity development workshop for Arab journalists, Cairo, Egypt. I helped design and facilitate the workshop that was organised by the UN-Water Decade programme on Capacity Development and the Arab Water Council.

Water and land media workshop achieves immediate follow-up action in Arab region
12 Feb 09
Egypt’s Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation will organize a second capacity development workshop with journalists from all the Nile basin countries. Together with other Arab and UN organizations it will also facilitate the setting up of a platform connecting the various networks of journalists who work on water, land, environment, health and food in the region. These were the main outcomes of the first Capacity Development Workshop for Water and Environmental Journalists in the Arab Countries on the important topic of Water & Land in Egypt from 22-24 January 2009.

The last issue of Source Bulletin announced the publication of five titles in English and Arabic documenting the results of the Euro-Med Participatory Water Resources Scenarios (EMPOWERS) research and development project (2003-2007). The following extracts illustrate how process documentation made a difference; not only within the team and for stakeholders involved in the project, but in the wider water situation in the three countries where EMPOWERS was working.
