Oxford Roundtable January 2005

From 24 to 26 January 2005, more than hundred people gathered in Oxford to discuss barriers to education related to water and sanitation. The participants included Ministers of Education and Water Supply, policy makers, programme specialists, donors, specialised institutions, development banks, the private sector and school children and young people from eight developing countries. One of the main outcomes of the Roundtable was the Joint Statement by all participants.

Water Information Summit 6

The Sixth Water Information Summit (WIS 6) brought together more than 150 people in Delft from 9-12 September 2003, who discussed "Breaking the barriers: Let water information flow!"

Various renowned international experts on water and knowledge management stressed the global importance of this topic and the summit that, for the first time, was held in Europe.

W-Africa Regional Symposium

The bi-lingual West Africa Regional Symposium on Sanitation and Hygiene (3-5 Nov 2009, Accra, Ghana) brought together about 140 participants from 17 countries. It was jointly organised by the Resource Centre Network Ghana, UNICEF, West Africa Water Initiative (WAWI), WaterAid, and IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre, and supported by the Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council.

A wide range of experts and practitioners, coming from 11 different countries in West Africa, presented papers on issues such as Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS), ecological sanitation, school sanitation and hygiene promotion. The presentations were used as an appetizer for more in-depth discussion in smaller groups of maximum 12 participants. The symposium provided a platform both for Anglophone and Francophone participants to share good practices and explore new ways forward.
