Updated - Thursday 02 November 2006
SWALIM’s primary role in the Water Sector is to provide an information management resource for agencies active in the water sector in Somalia.
Specific activities carried out by SWALIM include mapping of water sources, rehabilitation of the national rainfall and river flow data collection, evaluation of the potential for harvesting rain water, and surveying of main irrigation systems. See under 'water resources' for maps and water information sheets.
SWALIM is funded by the European Commission and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) until September 2007. SWALIM is technically managed by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.
