Use of related terms

One aspect of the thesaurus as a retrieval tool lies in its provision of related terms (rt). As these are in the nature of ‘See also’ entries, they may suggest relevant topics to the query formulators that were not immediately apparent. Thus, a person interested in PATHOGENS might wish also to see whether the rt PARASITES produces useful information; or one asking for POPULATION RESETTLEMENT as a parameter might find that the rt RURAL-URBAN MIGRATION is more appropriate.
