EnviSan and NGO Forum case study: re-use of human excreta in Bangladesh

This case study describes common practices on the re-use of human excreta in rural Bangladesh. Evidence is given on the use of human excreta in 'saturated' latrine pits as fertiliser for plants; by mixing it with animal manure, organic waste, and biogas sludge for agricultural purposes; by using waste water in agriculture and aquaculture; and in generation of biogas.
