Nick Dickinson
Programme Officer, Africa Team
At IRC, Nicolas (Nick) Dickinson brings together his experiences in information and communication technology, capacity building, and the WASH sector and is channeling those into the innovative communications theme. In addition, he is currently involved in the WASHCost, RiPPLE and AKVO projects in different capacities from communication strategy development to working on the Akvopedia wiki for water and sanitation. Nick is also involved in the improvement of IRCDOC, the IRC online library, and worked to make it compatible with modern reference managers (e.g. Zotero, Endnote). He provides support to and is working with other IRC information products such as the Question and Answer service and Source Weekly in order to bring them up to date with the latest possibilities in communication technology (web 2.0 etc.).
Before starting at IRC, he worked as a consultant on various projects from an evaluation of a capacity building network of river engineers in the Nile basin (NBCBN-RE) to organising a high profile international symposium in 2007. He also has extensive experience in the development and conceptualisation of websites and the systems used to manage their information.
Nick has an MSc in Water Science, Policy and Management from Oxford University. He received a BSc in Chemistry/Biology and a BA in Political Geography from University College Utrecht, both Cum Laude.
