Alana Potter
Senior Programme Officer, Africa Team
Alana Potter joined IRC as a hygiene and sanitation specialist in 2007. Her previous experience in the water and sanitation sector in South Africa included strategic and direct support to municipalities in institutional and social development, and input to policy based on lessons from innovative implementation and action research. She is proficient in programme design, policy analysis and a range of skills development and communication methodologies. Focus areas include process design and facilitation, governance arrangements and communication strategy and tools development, where she has worked in both water services and IWRM. She has a special interest in the linkages between water, sanitation, hygiene and HIV/Aids, and in sector collaboration. She has an MA in psychology and her country experience is predominantly in Southern and more recently East Africa.
