Key activities
Ton Schouten is responsible for IRC's focus area 'Scaling Up Community Management of Rural water Supply'. In this respect he leads an international thematic group for conceptual development and advocacy of 'Scaling Up', he develops IRC's knowledge base on 'Scaling Up' and he supports the implementation of 'Scaling Up' through a 3 year programme in Ethiopia, using a learning alliances approach. Ton Schouten is coordinator for all work with IRC's partner CINARA in Colombia. Because of Ton Schouten's background he is also involved in the communication and dissemination activities of some of IRC's bigger programmes.
Background
MSc at Wageningen Agricultural University with specialisations in rural sociology and communication and innovation sciences. More than 20 years of experience as a documentary film maker, working for Dutch television and as an independent producer. 10 years of experience as an advisor for communication and dissemination strategies and programmes. Manager of communication projects. Field experience a/o in Brazil, Guatemala, Colombia, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Malawi, South Africa, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Jordan, Egypt, Nepal, Sri Lanka and the Philippines.
