Erma Uytewaal

Erma Uytewaal is the Director of Programmes and Head of the Africa Team at IRC. Erma holds a masters degree in human geography from Nijmegen University and has more then fifteen years professional experience in development cooperation from different perspectives: multi-lateral (UN) and bi-lateral organisations (DGIS), national government (Bolivia) and commercial (consultancy) sector.

She brings experience in:

• development issues with emphasis on institutional strengthening of both public and civil society organisations in the context of national decentralisation processes.
• preparation and implementation of training strategies and activities, elaboration of training material and extensive experience in gender issues.
• capacity building of (local) governments, human resources development, planning for local development, elaboration and development of (participatory) planning methodologies and training.
