challenge to spread beyond internet

Vikram Rajola - Monday 19 September 2005

The most pertinent issue that needs to be tackled is that most of the information available and the data transfer between organisations/ nations is through the internet - a service which is not available/ reliable or accessible to the majority of those who lack water and sanitation. It is a challenge how the knowledge gained and received/ collated by sector professionals can be spread for the wider benefit of the community at large.

Dear Vikram

I couldn't agree more with you. I feel we at IRC should look much more actively in this issue together with our partners, who are much closer to the non-digital audiences.

It would be interesting to collect the experiences that are there with the establishing of information points in rural areas with internet connection. I know there have been a number of experi, ments in the agricultural sector in India, some supported by the government others by the private sector
