This publication is a report of the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Schools Roundtable meeting, which took place in Oxford, UK, 24-26 January 2005. It contains two documents. The first, ‘A Call for Action’, sets out actions that participants agreed must be taken to ensure that by 2015 – the target date of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) – all schools receive a basic quality package of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) education. The second, ‘A Package for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Education: The Oxford Roundtable Statement’, is a concise and comprehensive outline of the ‘optimal package’ for scaling up with quality the programmes for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Education in Schools.
