The RCD programme started there in 2002, although CREPA and IRC have been in contact since the late 1980's.

Overview - RCD Francophone Africa (CREPA)
Local governments from Burkina Faso by and large lack the skills to provide sustainable water and sanitation facilities to local rural and urban communities. They are aware of the need to upgrade their capacities and to let relevant information flow freely. They are also aware of the role and purpose of a resource centre and have recognized that CREPA can play that role in Burkina Faso and in the region through its entire network.
Two French IRC-CREPA titles published
CREPA and IRC co-published two English IRC titles in French: the Thematic Overview Paper on HIV/AIDS and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, and Keep It Working.
CREPA and IRC move to strategic partnership
On 3 March 2004, CREPA and IRC signed an aide memoir resulting from a joint planning session between teams from both resource centres.
CREPA and IRC will execute three joint programmes in support of the shared vision and strategy towards a greater impact in French speaking countries in Africa: 1) Information management; 2) Knowledge Development and Management; 3) Strengthening of national resource centres and their networks (Management of competence and expertise). A formal agreement for four years is expected to be signed in June 2004. CREPA and IRC are members of the STREAMS Coalition of Water and Sanitation Resource Centres
