Spread both horizontally and vertically
M.I.Zuberi, University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh - Monday 30 May 2005
Dear Participants,
As Mr Bury raised the issue of KM in our 'small world' - I think KM is
relevant to 'ourselves' first. I want to know more, I collect new
'information' for betterment of quality of my life, for better decision making, for more success. Then, I want that my family, my children should also be able to do this, so I transmit the knowledge
to them. Likewise I transmit it to my students, to my friends, to the NGOs with whom I work, I write articles and participate in seminars etc etc. Are these not involve KM ?
This is why when arsenic contamination affected 45 million in
Bangladesh through their 'once safe' drinking water from tube wells, I wanted to know what is about my tube well water, what I have to do for remediation and for alternative sources of safe water. I did this for my family and now try doing for others.
All this involved many steps, now developed as the science of KM, I
know the 'systematic' aspects of KM from the IRC e-conferences and I think have benefited from these exchanges.
We can always try to go ahead, to spread both horizontally and
vertically - that what these conferences can do; I look forward for
that.
Hope I am not bothering you,
