KM - another management competency

I wholeheartedly agree with Ratan. Knowledge Management has to become much more of a discipline.
Starting a senior management level, they need to be educated on the impact of KM on the business, the risk of not doing KM, where it should be applied and how it should be measured.
Middle management needs to be trained on how to apply KM to their project management environments and make it integrated part of their creation of solutions.
In an ideal KM world, a direct connection from business objective to a KM solution needs to be visible - in most cases these connects are probably very complex.
In my experience, KM is not a discipline by itself, but impacts other disciplines in their effectiveness.
My $0.02,
please let me know if you have any questions,
