Tsunami
Sirs,
We introduce as ourselves an Non-government voluntary organization and having been duly registered with Government of Tamilnadu, his the score of 13 years past service in the rural area doing social works and development activities.
Now , despite the relief works were almost over in respect of the tsunami victims affected in the recent part, their rehabilitation poses a problem which is perpetually lurking after the preliminary aids were affored to. We contributed our share in the relief activities along the seashore lying in our district Villupuram namely Markanam, Pondicherry and Cuddalore taluk comprised of the kuppams (hamlets) lying close to the seashore, contacting the affected individuals and redressesd and consoled.
Now the shelter to them poses problem to raise hutments at the place of their choice away at a distance from the shore area. The Government is also considering this aspect of affording dwelling apartments.
To resume their livelihood in the seafaring for fishing, and as they have lost their boats and casting nets designed for catching fish, we proposed to give deserving families the requirement of the boats and nets – manual operated and not the mechanised boats.
