The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is recruiting consultants to oversee a US $ 16.5 million (EUR 13.2 million) grant to help restore and improve access to water supply and sanitation facilities for the rural population in Aceh and Nias-North Sumatra affected by the tsunami disaster.

Procter & Gamble (P&G) has shipped 28 million packets of its PuR Purifier of Water to the tsunami-affected areas of southern Asia. In 2004 P&G abandoned the sale of PuR packets on a commercial basis in developing countries.
