These proceedings are for people who are interested in school sanitation and hygiene education (SSHE). The document has been written, in effect, by 19 professionals who contributed papers and/or made presentations at the SSHE symposium held in Delft, The Netherlands from 8-10 June, 2004.

The Delft Framework for Action
This international framework forms the basis for action from partners dedicated towards ongoing and future initiatives for effective and safe hygiene, sanitation and water in schools.
Participants from governments, foundations, NGOs, research and multilateral organisations participating in the School Sanitation and Hygiene Education Symposium, 8 - 10 June 2004 developed the framework.
