KM: Worth the effort?!

IRC and partners  organised an electronic conference "Knowledge Management: Worth the effort?!" from 20 September to 15 October 2004. This was linked to three workshops in the field co-organised by partners and IRC:

  • 15 Sept. 2004, Hotel Blue Star, Kathmandu, Nepal: facilitated by Nepal Water for Health (NEWAH)
  • 20 Sept. 2004, Dhaka, Bangladesh: facilitated by National Resource Centre of NGO Forum for Drinking Water Supply & Sanitation
  • 21 Sept. 2004 (afternoon), IWSD, Harare, Zimbabwe: facilitated by IRC and Institute of Water and Sanitation Development (IWSD). The workshop is being held prior to the13th ITN Africa Conference - Poverty! Water, Hygiene and Sanitation, Harare, Zimbabwe, organised by: Southern Africa Development Community - Water Division (SADC - WD) and IWSD, 22 - 25 Sep 2004. Outcomes of these offline discussions will be fed into the e-conference.

Phases

We plan to do the e-conference in four weeks covering the following topics:

Week 1: What constraints can we identify in knowledge management?

Week 2: What are the benefits and added values of KM?

Week 3: What KM success stories are worth sharing?

Week 4: How can we scale-up, what can we do next for effective KM for water and sanitation programmes/organisations?
